Proof Positive

Oh Hawaii how I loved thee...
It is the greatest proof that only God could create such a masterpiece.

"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Genesis 1:31

"Let the land produce vegetation..." Gen. 1:11

"God made two great lights- the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night." Gen. 1:16

And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures...."so God created the great creatures of the sea...Gen. 1:20

"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." Romans 1:20

Make a Wish

Make a wish.... when I was young, that was our favorite game. We made a wish on everything.

A falling star.

An eyelash.

A dandelion.

Birthday candles....

My sister would ALWAYS wish for the same two things.
"Too see Elvis" and
"To go to Hawaii"

On this January 7th, ironically the 5th anniversary of her death, I am soaring through the sky towards her dream destination.
And if I had an eyelash, or saw a falling star....I would wish she could be with me!

YEAR END AWARDS

A New Year begins today and whether your contemplating...fresh starts... new resolutions (possibly resurrecting an old one)...or eagerly anticipating future events, we all usually pause and reflect on the year gone by. I gave my best and worst awards for literature (using that term loosely) last year so thought I'd make it a tradition. Here ya go for 2011.

Favorite Gotta Read:
"Rainwater" by Sandra Brown (August post "Better than Ice cream")

Best Sequel:

"Love Letters from Ladybug Farm" by Donna Ball

Best Holiday Book:
"The Snow Angel" by Glenn Beck

The Biggest Let Down:

Ack!!!!! My ding dang garden!!!! So without a DOUBT this award goes to you ED and your blasted
"The Vegetable Gardner's Bible".

 Couldn't Finish Award:

"The Land of Painted Caves" by Jean Auel. (To be fair, I was kinda burnt out on the series when it came out because I re-read the first four to refresh my memory. It is one I will re-visit in 2012).

 Best Beach Read:
It's a tie (can't help it!)
"Summer Rental" by Mary Kay Andrews

  "One Summer" by David Baldacci

Can't Wait to read in 2012: (sorry again, more than one....)

"The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from my frontier" by Ree Drummond 3-13-12

"I've Got Your Number" by Sophie Kinsella 2-14-12

Many things I look forward to in 2012...
Good books.....travel....another shot at Gardening (I'm a glutton for punishment)...and here is my wish for us all

On New Year's Day
and the whole year through,

I hope the kindness
you've given to others
returns many times to you.

May hope, love, and warmth
be in your heart's possessing,
and may the New Year
bring you and yours
many blessings.
Happy New Year!!!
